Are you aware of the tragic incident that took place on Cypress Mountain? How easily can a regular snowboarding can turned into a terrifying emergency.

Yes, we’re talking about the recent event where a 40-year-old man split from his friends and then experienced something unimaginable.
Let’s unfold the complete heartbreaking story and learn about the unknown danger of winter spots.
On January 24, 2025, a group of friends decided to track the mountain for snowboarding. It was a one-day itinerary in Surrey, BC. While enjoying themselves in the snow one of their friends got split.
The group panicked and immediately reported the missing file of a 40-year-old Surrey man. The cypress mountain resort helped them in finding him but failed.
They also called West Vancouver police for help and they responded. The North Shore Rescue team was sent for the search of that man.
The crew of almost 20 people with a police helicopter were out on Friday evening looking for that man all over.
They were out all night searching and went to the last spot they knew he was at, which was on the top of a waterfall (told by Doug Pope from the rescue team).

He further told that when the morning light returned, their team flying overhead in a helicopter found a man’s body down at the waterfall, near Montizambert Creek.
The team rescued him and stated that he might have been in the area of the snowboarder and accidentally slipped off the waterfall and lost his life.
Such incidents take place often during winter when people are careless and don’t think of their lives.
While looking for that man they also found two skiers who were lost but yet not been reported missing. The skiers asked for help after seeing a police helicopter overhead.
The one they were in search of lost his life but some got life in exchange. Pope said that skiers and snowboarders need to be aware and prepared while enjoying the snow of the North Shore mountains.
Because they not only risk their lives but also of those who come to rescue them. They need to be responsible enough for their actions.
